Casey Jones is the Young Adult Representative and Chair of the Youth and Young Adult Committee for the Union of Black Episcopalians. In these capacities, Casey works with a group of passionate youth and young adult leaders, formation professionals, clergy, and volunteers to support youth and young adults in engaging the mission and vision of UBE and to cultivate other Black youth and young adult leaders for the Church and the world. Previously, Casey served in both youth ministry and campus ministry contexts before recently completing an Episcopal Service Corps year of service with Jubilee Year Los Angeles. Now, Casey works fulltime at the Saint Joseph Center where he previously served as a JYLA Fellow. At SJC, Casey continues to use his skills as a formation leader to assist senior adults transitioning out of houselessness. Casey is married to Amoni Thompson, a Black feminist scholar, activist, and educator. Casey and Amoni live in the Eagle Rock community of Los Angeles, CA with their dog, Bray, and their neighbors and worshiping community at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. | ![]() |
The Rev. Shannon Kelly is currently serving on the Presiding Bishop’s Staff as the Director of the Department of Faith Formation and Officer for Young Adult and Campus Ministries for The Episcopal Church. She convenes a network of both ministers and young adults to teach, mentor, train, and build relationships in order to equip and empower people to share their story as the body of Christ in God’s continuing mission of reconciliation in the church and world. Shannon’s passion and vocation has focused on advocating for and ministering with children, youth, and young adults through the churches she has served and through the communities in which she has lived. Since 1998 she has served in congregations in California and New York, served as a Chaplain at University of Wisconsin-Madison, and on the Diocesan Staff as Assistant to the Bishop for Christian Formation in the Diocese of Milwaukee. She wrote and edited God of My Heart, a book of prayers written by youth, for youth. She lives on Cape Cod in Forestdale, MA with her husband, The Rev. Dr. Thomas Ferguson, their son, and dog. | ![]() |
The Rev. Bobbi Kraft is Chaplain at St. Francis House Episcopal Student Center on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus and Young Adult Missioner for the Diocese of Milwaukee. Her passion is encouraging young adults to see their lives as pilgrimage journey in order to enable and empower them to see their spiritual lives and relationship with God and neighbor as fundamental to wholeness, wherever life’s path takes them. Prior to becoming a priest, Mother B’s own journey included a career in finance. Her favorite role was serving as grants officer for two foundations which enabled her to travel extensively “on loan” to global non-profits where she performed systems analysis and offered grant writing and volunteer development advise. As an Enneagram 7 - Adventurer, she gets energized learning new things, especially when it enables others discover and claim their life giving spark, all to the glory of God. Mother B considers travel her greatest teacher and currently claims Madison, WI as home base (and refueling stop). | ![]() |
Steve Mullaney serves as the Director of the University Episcopal Community in Minneapolis, MN. Steve loves to ask individuals and groups "Where are we now?; Where are we called to be?; (and) How do we get from here to there?" Inexhaustibly curious and always quick with a joke or a story, Steve loves co-founding new expressions of ministry--including two intentional communities, a house church, a small group facilitator training program and countless formation and retreat opportunities. The Rev. Nelson Mendoza is a graduate from the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, TX. While he was born in the Philippines, he spent his formative years growing up in southeastern Virginia followed by a five year period in Phoenix, AZ. Prior to seminary, Nelson was a community organizer around LGBTQIA+ equality and inclusion, interfaith community building, race and reconciliation work, and much more. He has a passion for social innovation, young adult/professional empowerment, civic engagement, and service leadership. His ministry is governed by his belief in the Gospel’s Call towards justice. Outside of the pews, he enjoys traveling on adventures to new places, playing and streaming video games, and exploring new ways to practice self-care. | ![]() |
The Rev. Louis Tillman is a native of Atlanta, GA. Rev. Tillman is the co-founder of H-Cubed (Harrison, Healing & Harmony) an alternative young adult ministry initiative designed to amplify community testimonies in an authentic way. H-Cubed developed into a monthly open-mic community event where young adults share art, poetry, music, and conversation around systemic issues of spiritual formation and discipleship. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the ministry grew from a weekly participatory attendance of 40 to nearly 400 in under a year! The past ten years he has served as the regional volunteer coordinator for the Mary Lou & Arthur F. Mahone Foundation. The mission of the Mary Lou & Arthur F. Mahone Fund is to provide educational opportunities for economically and academically deserving youth and to support healthy lifestyles initiatives in communities of color. Rev. Tillman mentors and continues to shepherd several unchurched young adults into faith based colleges and seminaries on full scholarships. Rev. Tillman recently served as the Senior Pastor at St. Philip's Lutheran Church in Baltimore, MD. Prior to that he served as a pastor in the following cities: Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Hampton and Philadelphia. He currently serves as the Co-Founder and Spiritual Organizer of the Black Excellence Spiritual Collective (BESC). | ![]() |
